Country Bird Holdings (Pty) Ltd (CBH) is a leading Southern African integrated poultry producer and one of the largest poultry and animal feed manufacturers in sub-Saharan Africa with a fully integrated value chain. Their household brands include Supreme Chicken and Enterprise and they supply all major retailers including Shoprite Checkers, Pick ‘n Pay and Massmart.
They operate in various countries in Africa and is one of the top three poultry producers in South Africa and Nigeria, and the number one poultry producer in Zambia and Botswana. They operate a holistic range of feed mills, grandparent (“GP”) operations, breeder farms, hatcheries, broiler farms, poultry processing plants and distribution centres in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Nigeria, Namibia and Mozambique. The South Africa business generates 80% of its group revenue, 38% EBITDA, while the Broader Africa contributes 20% of the group revenue and 62% EBITDA.
Given our extensive footprint in Africa, RMB relooked CBH’s facilities with a multi-juristic view and priced them according to their requirements.
RMB put together a package that detailed their facility structure with the best pricing for their Broader Africa business with the view of becoming CBH’s primary banker. RMB also provided strategic and advisory solutions to support them on their expansion drive. This deal afforded RMB primary bank status in South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and Botswana.
RMB collaborated and worked closely across jurisdictions to best solve for CBH’s needs across regions. CBH now has a primary banking partner to journey with them on their Africa growth strategy while having a single banking point of call for their Broader Africa operations.
